Scene

I begin with scenes and forms that remain in my memory. I collect and alter figures from disparate sources. Removed from the scenes in which I found them, the figures are rearranged into crowds and lines, taking on another shape as a whole.

That shape develops from the figures and their relative positions, and at times from the surface or site for which the work is made. I depict a state in which perception shifts back and forth between the human figures and the shape they form together, without settling on either.
