Scene — People and Place

2016–2019

In Scene, I use figures and movement as ways of reading a place. In Beppu in 2016, I brought an earlier flow of people between the harbour and the hot-spring town into contact with figures encountered in the present.

In Oita in 2019, I drew people as a procession that gradually became a path. Paint close to the colour of the wall allows the figures to shift with light and viewing position.
