I make work out of an interest in seeing, and in how what I see is recognised and remembered.
The work begins with the realisation that knowing something is not the same as remembering it. Even what seems familiar can become indistinct in memory. I find in the presence of things left unresolved all around us something of the reality of the world we inhabit.
Making begins with a sense of unease left by a particular experience. Rather than resolving what happened into a single understanding, I give it form while allowing it to remain not yet fully known.
Through conceiving, making, looking back at the completed work and sharing it with others, I experience again, in another form, the event that caught my attention and the question that emerged from it.
